Stop the Virgens - St. Ann’s Warehouse - Brooklyn NY

The cool night air flowed through the dark Brooklyn warehouse, packed to its fully exposed rafters as the blonde-wigged troupe of “virgens” took their places—be it onstage or amongst the audience—and let loose a divine chorus of lamenting love ballads and ’60s rock ’n’ roll dance numbers complete with formation dance moves and multi-nippled costumes.

The numerous virgens—appearing not unlike the children in Village of the Damned—seemed to be under the spell of two nun/witch type figures reminiscent of the Princess Mombi of Return to Oz, donned with large black oval-shaped head gear and equally as evil makeup and glaring scowls. Amidst all of this rose the cobweb-covered Viking horn- / microphone-wielding Karen O, eventually being tousled and torn about by said virgens to reveal a beautiful long-robed goddess-like figure, resembling a more elaborately dressed Tripitaka from Monkey Magic.

Unfortunately, that’s pretty much the end of my story line review, as after that, I had basically no idea what was going on. At a guess, it seemed Karen O and the two nun/witches seemed to be in an eternal battle for the virgens’ souls, and—surprise, surprise—it was Karen O who won out in the end, as the virgen slaves fell at her feet, spurting blood from their mouths and all down their pretty white frocks, to then be resurrected by song and purged of their evil sins. Or something.

All this aside, it was a production of immense quality and creativity seven years in the making, with lavish and wonderfully eccentric costumes (courtesy of Karen O's longtime costume designer, Christiane Hultquist, aka Christian Joy), haunting and inspiring audio, visuals, and production, and an epic soundtrack that has to be heard to be believed. I must say this was the standout for me—the music was uniquely original, emotional, fun, daring, and perfectly paired with the goings-on onstage. And with musical performers such as Nick Zinner, Money Mark, and Brian Chase in the wings, you can’t really go wrong, can you?

Plus, rather than heading to your usual live music haunt on Manhattan to spend a fortune on drinks and watch your latest obsession churn out their greatest hits, it was a refreshing change to journey to a warehouse beneath the scenic Brooklyn Bridge to see a show I could never imagine and may never see the likes of again. Let it inspire us all, as it should do, to throw off our run-of-the-mill creative shackles and release them into the wild as nature intended.

On her first ever appearance in Los Angeles; Anika played with her full band to a full house at The Echolpex - in the sketchy gone hipster neighborhood of Echo Park in Los Angeles. The sounds were among the experimental edges between Nico/VU, Slowdive, Laurie Anderson, and Ladytron, with backdrops spun out of electronica and trip-hop. The latter part not being surprising, as Portishead's Geoff Barrow became a musical collaborator with Anika, once she started looking for like-minded musical souls in her home-town of Bristol, by way of Berlin.

The night's tunes were largely taken from Anika's self titled release, with a few surprises thrown in. In mood and sound, the songs gave off a somewhat uneasy feeling: familiar, yet having an discordant and groove oriented texture, with the vocals sounding eerie and distant, all at the same time. Some of the high points were her stand out songs "I'm Not There," "He Needs Me," and last but certainly not least her song "Yang Yang" which reminded me of a dream of being abducted by aliens - though that's another story entirely. Her entire set had the simultaneous traits of making you slightly uneasy, but leaving you want more - a very interesting combination.

During the encore Anika gave the audience an unexpected treat, by way of performing a stylized interpretation of Talking Heads "Once in a Lifetime." Very cool & over too soon. Next time.....

Peter, Bjorn & John, 10/05 @ El Rey Theatre, Los Angeles

Peter Bjorn & John seem to have single-handedly created a Swedish musical invasion, with their "All You Can Eat" tour, in support of their latest album Gimme Some. After taking over New York, the band continued on their cross-country journey to Los Angeles; with four sold-out LA concerts at different venues, an art opening, and a food truck event. Peter, Bjorn & John succeeded in garnering countless new devotees - in a big way. Culminating their week-long stay in the city of angels, was their concert at The El Rey Theatre. This visit looks like it's cementing the band Sweden's most visible export --- move over Ikea, Volvo, & Abba.

Illuminated in the projected light of the Swedish flag; Peter Bjorn & John, launched their set with the epic anthem-esque sounding "Tomorrow has to Wait," and followed up with a myriad of equally catchy tunes from their latest album Gimme Some, as well as previous releases: Writer's Block and Living Thing, all the way back to the early 00's. The band for those who aren't entirely familiar yet is composed of Peter Morén on vocals & guitar; Björn Yttling on vocals & bass; and John Eriksson on drums & vocals.

Further into the set, when the trio went into "Eyes" from the new album. With it's 50's-esque memorable guitar riffs, they had the audience dancing and bouncing all over the place. Peter did his best Euro-Elvis guitar playing/singing/jumping/shaking, while Bjorn played it more cool and collected - right out out of a Wes Anderson movie (ala Richie Tenenbaum w/beard), and John just seemed incredibly bubbly - more-so than most drummers not furry and on the Muppets.

With full visual accompaniment of random and amusing projector-art behind the band & a crazy looking bearded guy at the left back of the stage with giant three-thumbed blue hands, the band was quirky but very cool. One interesting thing about seeing the boys from Stockholm, having only limited knowledge of them before (yes, the whistling song); It was intriguing that their repertoire had so many nuances and different parts of it's personality. Flowing from one infectiously upbeat indie-tune to another; the band's sojourn in Los Angeles served as a kind of indie-pop musical-trinity, seeking converts. They hit the streets, setting the city's music enthusiast's feet to tapping.

Highlights of the show included the mellow/quirky tune "Amsterdam," the amusingly sarcastic "Lay it Down" from Living Thing, and the ubiquitously catchy whistling song "Young Folks." The last of which, Peter proceeded to jump down while whistling/singing and venture far into the audience - dancing and connecting with their new converts as well as long-time fans. While cheeky at points and rockin' at others, the Swedish trio's tunes and odd-antics made the band real crowd pleasers! In short, they're well worth checking out live, as well as giving a listed to their latest album: Gimme Some...

I met up with Tasseomancy’s twin sisters, Sari and Romy Lightman, backstage at the Bowery Ballroom after a sound check for another music project they’re working on with Austra, whom they met at surf camp. We spoke of some differences between Halifax and Toronto (where they are from), the very moving history of their great-great-grandmother, how Edgar Allen Poe had an influence on their new record, and then the sisters sat down and took a brief quiz. Having arrived in town on a Sunday towards the end of summer and the beginning of the school-year for many; Bright Eyes brought their melancholy and angsty folk sounds to the 5k+ Santa Barbarians at the County Bowl - Southern California's equivalent of Red Rocks. This time out on the road, front-man Conor Oberst & band preformed a quintessential sampling of more-albums-than-I-can-keep-track-of, though featured their latest release The People's Key, and delivered another solid set of indie-folk/rock tunes.

Opening the night with the happily-disturbing yet optimistic "At the Bottom of Everything," and following up with "Four Winds," their catchy tune questioning organized religion; the band had the audience mesmerized from the first note. Representing the audience was a wide age-range of fans, from those too young to drive, to those nearly too old. This definitely spoke to the universal themes that the good Mr.Oberst covered in some of his songs: pain, redemption, heartache & joy.

The band's line-up for this tour included it's staple musicians: Conor Oberst on vocals/guitar (of course), Bright Eyes' notable producer Mike Mogis on guitar, and arranger Nate Wolcott on trumpet/etc, as well as other indie impresarios such as Andy LeMaster on bass, Laura Burhenn from The Mynabirds on vocals/keyboards/accordion, and Clark Baechle of The Faint on drums.

From “Take it Easy” and “I Believe in Symmetry” off of the album Digital Ash In A Digital Urn, to the poignant lyrics of “Land Locked Blue” which reveals the personal and insightful lyrics: “If you walk away, I’ll walk away – First tell me which road you will take.” Oberst further showed his development as a songwriter and storyteller with other high points, including ones from their new album The People's Key. Most notably, the stirring and thoughtful lyrics of "Shell Games," in which he emotes the ubiquitously familiar sentiment "My private life is an inside joke - No one will explain it to me."

Rounding out the night with a few encore tunes; the band preformed a heartfelt cover of Gillian Welch's song "Wrecking Ball," and closed out with the electro-folk sounds of "One For You, One For Me." By the end of the set, the entranced audience was speechless from Bright Eyes' impressive compositional, lyrical and emotional stimuli; making the evening a most memorable one...

Peter Bjorn & John's "Gimme Some" tour is bringing some exciting happenings to the The City of Angels. Starting with Thursday night's (9/29) packed art exhibition at "THIS, Los Angeles" and rolling into a massive food truck give-away event on Tuesday (10/4), and last but certainly not least 4 live dates at four different venues. The first of their four LA shows on Saturday October 1st at the sold out Troubadour, then hit The Smell on October 3rd for another sold out gig, followed by a set at the already sold out Echo on October 4th and then wrapping things in LA on October 5th with a show at the El Rey - mind that the El Rey still has a few tickets still available.

And if that’s not enough for the LA fans, Peter Bjorn and John along with their partner Eater.com have selected LA as one of the lucky cities to be chosen for the Food Truck food giveaway around the All You Can Eat tour. Scheduled to go down in LA on Tuesday October 4th – the Food Truck, the location, the time and the secret phrase will be revealed that day a couple of hours prior to the event via Twitter @PeterBjornJohn. Low @ El Rey Theatre, Los Angeles, 09/20/11

Having waited a long time to see LOW; it was a treat to have the stars align this time around, to see them at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles. The crowd filling the venue for Low's poignant, slow-core performance was an eclectic mix: hipsters to goths, rockers to old-peeps, all the way to those apparently melting into the wall-paper...

Supporting their latest album "C'mon", as well as representing a formidable portion of their catalog; Low expressed what appeared to be audible-painting of a road-trip across across the abandon southwest: dusty unkempt roads, intermittently stopping in for supplies at near deserted outposts of civilization.

Their melodies, one after another: melancholy-slow in tempo and lyrically intense, hypnotized the audience as well as myself. As the evening came into focus, the set became less akin to standard song structure & presentation, and more kind of a 90 minute dive into an introspective landscape of loss and emotion that we all have a connection to at some level.

At the end of the evening I felt like I'd been at a combination of a long group therapy session, mixed with a lot of peyote, and and a friend's band playing out in the desert: Very cool, but not what i had expected...

The Joy Formidable @ El Rey Theatre, Los Angeles, 09/14/11

Gracing Los Angeles' El Rey Theatre, The Joy Formidable hit the stage, and in little time showed that their current buzz is something worth actually paying attention to. Formed in North Wales and later settling in London, the members (as well as touring lineup) consist of: Ritzy Bryan on Vocals/Guitar, Rhydian Dafydd on Bass, and Matt Thomas on Drums. The trio opened the night with "A Heavy Abacus" from their sophomore & latest album "The Big Roar." They played a good selection from it, as well as touched on songs from their first release "A Balloon Called Moaning." Having an interesting mix of vibes, their sound filled the evening air with thick chords, primal drum-beats and celestial vocals.

Sounding vocally like a cross between 'Yeah Yeah Yeahs' & 'Garbage', and instrumentation-wise between 'Foo Fighters' and 'Arcade Fire', the band wove in and out of their long but entrancing set, from the 'Cranes' like vocal chanting on "Austere", to the poppy but chaotic (and apropos titled) sounds of "Whirring."

Only recently being turned on to The Joy Formidable in the last few months, I wasn't sure what to expect from the concert. Not to sound too sold on them, but in short: their performance was pretty damn impressive. Song after song, their compositions, stage presence, and confidence were that of a far more established band. By the end of the evening, the trio went on to impress a sold-out El Rey Theatre, as well as myself.

I would highly recommend seeing them live, as well as picking up their latest album "The Big Roar." You won't regret it....

Boston-based songstress Marissa Nadler and NY collaborative project Cloud Seeding have released a brand new video for the track "Ink Jar," as Nadler prepares for a set of North American dates with James Vincent McMorrow and a European fall tour. Spearheaded by Brooklyn-based guitarist Kevin Serra, Cloud Seeding is a music singles project conceived as a space of collaboration to showcase vocalists he admires. Nadler is the first vocalist to team up with Serra, penning the vocals for this song. Directed by Christopher Arcella, the video features actors Ray Lorini and Vera Balyura on a cosmic love journey and can be watched at below.

I just stumbled upon this cool dreamy artist called Pandit. Pandit consists of Lance Smith of Lumberton, Texas. He released a FREE download EP called Steady Nerves and a Strong Heartfor his fans. Download it for FREE here. The EP is great but I am hooked on this track "Kathryn, My Love" below.

Marissa Nadler, Faces On Film live at Littlefield 7/30/11

It was my first time hearing Boston’s Faces on Film who opened for Marissa Nadler’s latest East Coast Tour. Faces On Film is Mike Fiore who has an extremely unique and beautiful voice for a male singer. It calls to mind a young Neil Young but a bit more silkier, like Jeff Buckley. He played solo using both acoustic and electric guitars. His song writing was great he had very nice subtle hooks and he even did an amazing cover of Clinic’s “Distortions.” I’m not yet to familiar with his catalog but songs that stood out were “Manitoba” and “Knot in the Vine.” You can preview three songs off his new LP Some Weather over at his bandcamp page but I highly recommend picking up his new LP and his 2008 gem The Troubles via iTunes.

Marissa Nadler took the stage wearing a red dress and started right into her solo set. She sounded amazing. Hats off to the soundman who helped project her beautiful sounds perfectly by blending her voice and guitar throughout the room. On her second song, she busted out a 12-string guitar and rocked out “Salutations in the Dark” acoustically. She blithely mentioned in between songs “Brooklyn is the last show on my tour and I still love Brooklyn despite my car being broken into.” “They broke all the windows but didn’t take anything.” Then, she launched into “Your Heart Is A Twisted Vine” off her new EP Rain Arrangement. After this great tune, she gave fans a real treat playing “Fifty Five Falls” the first track off her first album. Marissa switched microphones in this song to one filled with reverb and delay and did a bit of a vocal solo with layered melodies. Mike Fiore of Faces on Film then joined Marissa on stage and played guitar and sang harmonies with her for the latter half of her set and brought a more alt-country vibe to her songs, giving them an interesting nuance. She left the stage after playing “In Your Lair, Bear “ off her new LP. She was quickly convinced to return for and encore by the loud and persistent crowd. She and Fiore played a stripped down version of one of her singles off her new album “The Sun Always Reminds Me Of You.“ Fiore left the stage and Marissa said she would play us one more song; her beautiful cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Famous Blue Raincoat.”

For a performer who’s been dealt a lot of trials and tribulations the last year or so, getting dropped from her label named after her song “Mexican Summer,” having her car broken into in Brooklyn, Marissa Nadler has risen above these challenges and has emerged a more seasoned performer and an artist worthy of ever increasing praise and attention.

Arriving in Los Angeles for a second consecutive show, at the second (and in my opinion a far more sumptuous) venue; Blonde Redhead graced the stage of the El Rey Theatre. As anticipated, their whispered vocals and sultry sounds were front & center on this, a second tour in support of their latest album "Penny Sparkle." This visit the band delivered a more sparse visual presentation, while the sound was as captivating as ever.

With fog drifting about their feet, Vocalist Kazu Makino, along with the brothers Amedeo & Simone Pace (vocals/guitars & drums respectively), enthralled the audience from the start of "Black Guitar," to the last note of the spell-binging encore. Focusing predominantly on the most recent album "Penny Sparkle," they also touched on "23" and "Misery Is A Butterfly," making it a treat for their audience members of multiple eras.

On this night, Blonde Redhead turned the El Rey theatre into Chillwave/Downtempo/Nouveau-Trip-Hop haven as they osculated vocal duties back and fourth between Kazu & Amendo. Drifting fog and lights cutting through the air, were a perfect companion for their mesmerizing sounds. High-points of the evening included the sonically feverish "Spring And By Summer Fall" as well as the clockwork lullaby sounds of "In Particular."

Coming to the close of the night, the encore started with the brightly manic sounds of "Equus," and wrapping with the dreamy whispered "My Plants Are Dead." By the end of the set, the audience was speechless, other than the resounding sounds of yearning for the band to keep playing. Hopefully Blonde Redhead will make it back to town sooner than later... (Or, there's always catching them in Europe this summer...)

As if an animated-elastic-tiger had twins and named them Matt & Kim; the irreverently playful synth & drum duo bounced into Hollywood's MusicBox Theatre, spreading their audaciously fun brand of Indie-Pop. This outing for the Brooklyn based twosome, was in support of their third and latest album “Sidewalks,” though shared album representation with "Grand" as well as their self titled release.

The flashing lights and theme to the movie Rocky marked Matt & Kim’s triumphant return to Hollywood and the MusicBox’s stage. After a victory lap, the dynamic duo started into “Block after Block” followed by “I Wanna.” Adding to their infectious exuberance, one of the most intriguing points was their atypical periodic interaction with their drums & synth: Kim’s dancing on her drum kit / Matt’s jumping & standing on his seat, and both of their running around the stage. Playing everything from their most recognizable hits, to the tunes not-as-easy put your finger on; their entire set expressed a playful buoyancy from nearly the first note to the encore’s close. The exuberant connection with their audience was definitely symbiotic.

Turning up the audience's excitement, the duo launched into "Lessons Learned," a song memorable for numerous reasons (not least of which being the music video showing the two of them sans-clothes/bearing-it-all in Manhattan). Rolling on into "Cinders," "Yea Yeah," and a dozen more the band definitely gave the audience more than a cookie cutter performance.

Moving to the evening's close, the climax hit with a frenetic rendition of Matt & Kim's latest anthem "Daylight." Between confetti falling in the theatre, Kim's instructing all the guys to take their shirts off and swing them above their heads, and the throwing hundreds of balloons out to the audience to blow up and release, the concert was essentially a very fun party hosted by Matt & Kim...

Flaming Lips, 06/14 @ Hollywood Forever Cemetery

When I heard the Flaming Lips were coming to the Los Angeles area, I was excited to see them again, this time outside of the festivals that they've been playing in the last few years. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect of the two special events at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery. What I knew though, was that the band would be preforming "The Soft Bulletin" & "Dark Side of the Moon" on June 14th & 15th respectively; allowing the full albums to be presented as their unified concepts.

Upon arriving at the cemetery for the June 14th show (insert witty double-entente about FaceBook checking in at a cemetery) - an obligatory stop was made at the memorial of Johnny Ramone - just adjacent to the Fairbanks Lawn, where the half-dome stage stood at the far end the lawn, scattered with a few thousand people on blankets. Making our way down to the stage we passed multiple art installations; ala a tree raining light, the giant mirrored spinning orbs - beautiful, with a very Alice in Wonderland/Wizard of Oz vibe.

The show was less of a standard concert, and more felt like a do-it-yourself kind of event; unusual for a larger band. Before the show/during set change to their gear, lead singer Wayne Coyne was very personable, chatting with the audience. You get this overwhelming sense that he's just a really good guy.

As the set started ramping-up with the band's swirling wall-of-noise intro, Wayne climbed inside the giant bouncy hamster-ball until the apex, when the crew spun him down the ramp & out onto the raised hands of the audience - and the set began.....

In parallel, launching into "Race for the Prize" they continued track by track in-album-order, and the confetti rained down down - bright as day, with the neo-psychedelic rock tunes and an overall and warm-hearted vibe. A few songs in, Wayne shared the first of a few stories with the audience. This one, about "The Spiderbite Song;" taken from a very near-miss that band-mate Steven Drozd had when he got a poisonous spider bite and nearly had to have his hand amputated. The story was anecdotal for making the most of everything & appreciating even the small things like having hands.

The tunes all flowed really good, but the experience was amplified by an amazing LED wall-of-light: sometimes just colored light and sometimes projecting visual clips of the band playing live. The imagery was of such discordant random themes as giant eyeballs, naked woman silhouettes, and the obligatory teletubbues. Random, but awesome.

The next tune to really stand out was "Waitin' for a Superman." This was an emotional trip that they took the audience on; nearly having everyone in tears before the song ended. It was written about Wayne's father's battle with & succumbing to cancer, however it applied in a much broader sense for him, in retrospect. In part of the story, Wayne commented on mortality and his good friend Elliott Smith's chronic depression, which ended up bringing about his death. It also served as reassurance for those who are down to hold on the best they can - that things do get better. Beyond akin to a counseling appointment at this point, the song was even better/more emotionally packed, knowing the back-story.

Finishing off the set (and the album "The Soft Bulletin"), the band turned to the encore which consisted of a three additional hits "She Don't Use Jelly," "The Yeah Yeah Yeah Song," "Do You Realize," of which, all the audience went wild to...

Man Man, Shilpa Ray & Her Happy Hookers Williamsburg Hall of Music 6/1/11

Last time I saw Shilpa Ray & Her Happy Hookers she killed it at Brooklyn Bowl in early January 2011. Since then the band have toured the US twice. Once with Acid Mothers Temple and currently closing out another US tour with fellow east coaster's Man Man. Shilpa and her band of Happy Hooker's have given a new meaning of the word tight. The band were amazing. The songs were still energetic but even more incredibly tight. Each member of the band felt so comfortable with the songs they have each added little nuances. At the end of their set Man Man's brass section joined Shilpa Ray and Her Happy Hooker for a bone crushing version of "Liquidation Sale." The band left the stage and Shilpa played a new tune called "Pipe Dreams, Ponzi Schemes" (See video clip on bottom of this post) by herself with her harmonium the lyrics went "Well I got my free will and nobody's gonna be my man/so thank God if all I take is your money." The band returned and played an new song called "The Burning Bride" which was a real treat. She thanked her friend Ratso for naming the song. They ended their set with a punk rock cover of Red Kross's "Neurotica!"

I had never seen Man Man before. I've seen Man Man's front man Honus Honus perform with Mister Heavenly with Islands' Nick Thorburn, Modest Mouse's Joe Plummer, and actor Michael Cera. As I I noticed a large majority of the fans were dressed in warpaint and yielding kazoo's, I knew I was in for a treat. Man Man's stage set up looked like the film set of Steven Spielberg's E.T., with bikes, television sets, child sized drums kits set behind a glowing star back ground. The bands music was so complex with sudden changes and very diverse sounds at times it sounded like Sonic The Hedgehog, The Smurfs, Pirates of The Caribbean, Tom Waits, Gogol Bordello and even the soul group The Dap-Kings! I have a lot of mental processing to do and tons of catching up on hearing Man Man's new album Life Fantastic, as well as their past LPs.

Both bands put on amazing high energy sets.

We sadly missed the opening band Afuche but luckily we caught Brooklyn's Buke & Gass early in there set. The two piece duo both named Aron delivered a hyper-charged set while sitting in wooden chairs. Arone’s bandmate’s name is Aron. Aaron Sanchez drums with his feet and plays a gāss which is a a guitar-bass hybrid. Arone Dyer plays būke which is a a self-modified six string baritone ukelele and sings. The duo have been touring with tUnE-YaRdS and the Brooklyn show was the last date. Buke & Gass's songs have a jarring rocking power like bands like No Means No or even Gang of Four but the bands overall sound is very unique and original maybe Sonic Youth come to mind but all explanations so far are vague at best. The duo played songs from their LP Riposte and +/- EP and kept the crowd entranced through their entire set.

After a brief intermission Merrill Garbus better know as tUnE-YaRdS took the stage by herself and kept the night going strong as she built up some of her drum beats thru a looper in real time and played some ukulele and built up some amazing vocal melodies. Later bassist Nate Brenner and a pair of saxophonists joined her adding more textures to the already powerful compositions.

Last Wednesday night, Hollywood welcomed TV On The Radio back to town with open arms. An entirely sold-out house at the MusicBox hosted the band on this, their first time back in the city since their LA recording session for of their newest album, "Nine Types of Light." The album, marking their fourth, was played oscillating in tempo and tone; covering their progression as a band, dating back to their 2003 "Young Liars" release. Between their recent thoughtful/mature release, and the more driving earlier works; TVOTR performed a night's worth of tunes, true to the highest post-punk/indie-rock/art-rock ideals...

The Brooklyn-based band worked their way through highlights from all four of their albums, as well as a selection of EP tracks. Memorable tunes of the evening included the opener "Halfway Home," from 2008's "Dear Science," and they proceeded to give the audience an audible treat from each of their other releases. As for their new "Nine Types of Light," they included catchy "Will Do" as well as the aptly titled "Repetition."

Front-man Tunde Adebimpe varied between playing keyboard while singing, and bounding about stage delivering his vocals, all while the packed audience pushed it's way to get closer to the core of the fevered tempos & tunes. Manning the other stations of the band were: multi-instrumentalist David Andrew Sitek, as well as Kyp Malone on guitars/vocals/giant fluffy beard.

Rounding the corner towards the finish line, the familiar refrain started in, as the audience sung/howled along. "...howlin' forever..., ...howlin' forever..." If I've ever seen something of a hit, it was TVOTR preforming "Wolf Like Me" rounding out the main set. amazing...

The set was nearly closed, but not before three more tunes fit their way in. "A Method", "DLZ" and "Satellite" from the releases "Return To Cookie Mountain," "Dear Science," and the "Young Liars" [ep], respectively. The night's songs ebbed and flowed between melodic, funky and indie-rock based. In total: TV On The Radio is a band well worth seeing live, if you can score a ticket....

Cibo Matto Reunite, Announce Headlining Tour

Cibo Matto, the ground-breaking and genre-bending duo of Miho Hatori and Yuka C. Honda, happily announces their reunion with two short "sneak preview" tours this summer, calling the tours "YEAH BASICALLY CIBO MATTO". The first, from June 21st-26th, will be on the West Coast, with a second East Coast/Midwest run July 11th-20th.

Miho and Yuka are also in the process of writing new songs for an upcoming album, which is scheduled for release by early 2012. One can expect to hear some of these new songs, as well as many from their brilliant 90s repertoire, at these upcoming shows. They may stream some of these new songs on their new website www.yeahbasicallycibomatto.com, as the tours approach. The duo have also filmed a teaser video, featuring a clip of one of the new tracks, available on YouTube and Vimeo.

To the delight of some lucky New Yorkers, Cibo Matto recently played benefit concerts for Japan relief. These shows were not only part of successful and soulful efforts to assist the beleaguered populace of Miho and Yuka's native land, they also displayed a stunning return to form for Miho and Yuka. Their undeniable chemistry, unique sensibility, and infectious grooves will again delight dedicated fans while also attracting new listeners.

Cass McCombs & Jana Hunter Live at Bowery Ballroom 5/12/11

The last time I saw Cass McCombs I was pretty disappointed in his set last July. It was also at the Bowery and he had opener Lightspeed Champion. He was playing some new material very seventies influenced which is not what made it on his new album Wit's End.

However tonight's set, his new album and his new band members all drove it back home with style as Cass and crew put on an amazing show delivering a handful of tracks off Wit's End. They opened with "Buried Alive," "The Lonely Doll" and County Line," which he and the band executed with precision and grace. He performed quite a nice set with slow brewing cadence which included a great mixture of older tracks. They did a lovely version of "Equinox" off of PREfections, and from his debut E.P they played "Not The Way." The band delivered some tunes from his 2009 album Catacombs' including "Prima Donna," "Don't Vote," and during "Harmonia" Cass finished a great solo on his nylon string guitar and then called out the next band member. Each member took their turn to showcase their soloing chops before sending it back to Cass who brought his vocals into the mix at the end of this heavy weighted almost instrumental track. He and the band ended the show with some tunes off his album A including "AIDS in Africa" and "When The Bible Was Wrote" and ending with "Bobby, King of Boy’s Town."

It was a delight to see Jana Hunter lead singler/guitarist of Lower Dens opened the show with a amazing solo set. Armed with her voice, a guitar and a looper pedal Jana created some breathtaking swells of music that built and built then gently blew away in a breeze. Back in 2005 prior to her band Lower Dens attention grabbing debut Jana had put out an amazing solo album called Blank Unstaring Heirs Of Doom. It was the first record released on Devendra Banhart's label Gnomonsong. It is a great LP you can read our review of it here. She also put out of few great tracks on some compilations. Jana played many tunes from I recalled "Farm, Ca.," "The Angle" and "The New Sane Scramble." It was really great hear these tracks live and to see her stand so tall as a solo performer.

This last Saturday night in Los Angeles, was one full of excitement to catch a band I'd waited for over a decade to see. England's Tindersticks were playing in Los Angeles, and I was damned if I was going to miss them this time. This tour to the states brought the band in support of their recently released; five CD/LP compilation "The Claire Denis Film Scores 1996-2009."

The night started upon entering an unfamiliar LA venue, one on the campus of Cal State LA: The Luckman Arts Center - a minimalist yet beautiful brick theater. As the lights went down, the Tindersticks entered the darkened stage. Coming off sounding subtle yet amazing, the band's soundscapes were perfectly set for film accompaniment. The songs/scores felt cinematically fabricated, belonging somewhere in-between an eerie spaghetti-western and walking into a 1920's cocktail lounge in Madrid (on a bunch of downers), and waiting for the next fight to break out: The calm before the storm...

Focusing on songs/soundtracks from their work supporting the films of Claire Denis, the band preformed superbly in front of a giant film screen, showing a montage of well composed and intriguing films; though the subject matter of the films i was more mixed on. The films seemed largely comprised of vignettes of the human condition: sex & beauty, senseless violence & death. Personally i was in favor of the former of the two groups, but understood the intent - even if watching the latter seemed to detracted a bit from the total evening.

The presentation of songs ebbed and flowed between soundtrack focused, and performance focused; between the film being in the foreground (and the band in silhouette), and the band being the foreground with the film set back as intriguing imagery behind the band. All the while: The eight members of the band radiated a understated yet sophisticatedly cool vibe...

With two full-length albums under their belt, an appearance at Coachella earlier this year and a successful U.S. tour that wraps up May 6th with a sold-out show at New York’s Webster Hall, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart have all but solidified their place in the indie mainstream - an odd contradiction, to be sure. So while Milford’s Daniel Street seemed an unlikely destination for a band with such burgeoning credentials, the underrated Connecticut venue provided a unique opportunity for an intimate evening with The Pains and an enthusiastic legion of local fans.

Appearing as a five-piece following the addition of guitarist Christoph Hocheim, The Pains’ live performance largely eschewed excessive bombast and theatrics in favor of sharply-written and arranged shoegaze-inspired songs awash with passion and an understated intensity. The band’s romantic, major chord-driven melancholic pop retained the low-key yet dramatic sensibilities of their recent records, with singer Kip Berman’s gentle, whispered vocals proving the perfect counterpoint to dense, fuzz drenched guitars and synthesizer hooks.

The band’s 13-song set was almost evenly divided between their first and second albums, as early singles “Teenager in Love” and “Come Saturday” brimmed with an indelible youthful energy. But The Pains were especially engaged and confident on songs from their recently-released album Belong. The synth-driven dream pop of “The Body,” the Ride-influenced “Heaven’s Gonna Happen Now” and the album’s dynamic title track easily stood as highlights of the evening and demonstrated a marked evolution in the group’s skills as composers and performers. The band presented a balanced, vibrant sound throughout the hour-long set, although Peggy Wang’s synthesizer and backing vocals occasionally sat a little too low in the mix.

Even in a relatively smaller venue, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart seemed to derive immense satisfaction simply from performing their songs and being amongst their ardent fans. And if the band’s performance was any indication, opportunities to be this up close and personal will be few and far between in the years to come.

Flashing an unqualified love for 80s-inspired post-punk, Brooklyn’s Twin Shadow opened with an impressive set of haunting yet danceable tunes from their debut album Forget. Favoring a darker, more hypnotic cadence than their tourmates, the band conjured up memories of The Chameleons and New Order through the spellbinding “Yellow Balloon” and “Castles in the Snow.” While frontman George Lewis Jr. occasionally overpowered the mix on several louder vocal passages, his charisma and shimmering guitar work contrasted nicely with the musical textures of his shadowy, subdued bandmates.

EMA, a/k/a the new project from ex-GOWNS singer/guitarist Erika M. Anderson, is confirmed to support Kurt Vile and Menomena on a handful of US dates late this month and early next. She will join Kurt Vile in Portland, OR, at the Bunk Bar on April 23rd; in Seattle, WA, at The Sunset on April 24th; and in Vancouver, BC, at the Waldorf Cabaret on April 25th. EMA will then support Menomena at the Doug Fir Lounge in her current adopted hometown of Portland on May 2nd. All dates will be played with her full band: sister Nikki on drums, Aaron Davis on bass, and Leif Shackleford on violin/synths. A full itinerary, including previously announced European and UK dates, is below.

EMA's video "California," the first single from Past Life Martyred Saints was filmed by director Shackleford, the video is a one-take performance with no cuts, set against a backdrop of footage of her native South Dakota and West Oakland, her California base for the past five years.

Craft Spells Live at Glasslands 4/9/11

Justin Paul Vallesteros is taking his stunning bedroom project Craft Spells out on the road after the great response to his debut album Idle Labor. Justin originally from Stockton, California moved to Seattle, Washington and assembled a live touring band.

The band of young lads did a great job entertaining the Saturday night Brooklyn crowd, my only gripe was the songs sounded a little loose but I'm sure after the band makes it across the states with Beach Fossils they will get much tighter playing night after night. In all fairness the sound at Glassland's suprisingley wasn't that great either maybe due to the fact the moved the stage and are getting use to the new club set-up.

The band recently signed with Captured Tracks. They will be loved by fellow revivalist's The Pains of Being Pure at Heart fans. Justin's music is an ode to classic late-eighties and nineties bands such as New Order which the debut borrows ever more inspiration from using cover art very similar to New Order's Power, Corruption & Lies. Despite the heart on sleeve influences the album is great fun and Justin and his band seem like they have a good shot at keeping the project moving forward.

Montreal's Handsome Furs l which is Dan Boeckner (Wolf Parade) and his wife Alexei Perry, treated Brooklyn fans to a large preview of new songs off their forthcoming third album titled Sound Kapital, which will be released on Subpop on June 28th. The duo played a very driving and uptempo set despite the sound was a little muddy. They played all the classics from the first two albums and many songs off their upcoming album including "What About Us" which you can download at the bottom of this post for the price of an email. Barefoot, Alexei was dancing up a storm on every song in very, VERY short dress and would fall down on the floor after many of the songs. Her husband was dressed in as the thin white suite and kept the crowd entertained while delivering vocals, guitar and keys. Super sad their fellow Montreal opener GRIMES was un able to play due to visa issues. Cinnamon Band took her opening slot.

The Black Angels live at Williamsburg Hall of Music 4/9/11

I imagine Quentin Tarrentino listens to the Black Angels. The band captures a style of music long dead in a fresh viable way. I’m not sure if they make the old new or just transport me back in time. But as most things, memories are better than reality and I’m sure the reality of the Black Angels far surpasses their predecessors. I can’t believe the only thing I misspelled so far is Tarrentino. But no matter, I spelled it the same way both times so I am consistent.

I didn’t do any research on the bands because I wanted to go in cold and be able to convey my experience to you sans expectations so you won’t get a lot of basic boring info here except that their name comes from a Velvet Underground song. You know what? Go google yourself!

As I arrived at Williamsburg Hall of Music 15 minutes before showtime I couldn’t believe it was sold out. But it filled quickly during opener and was definitely SRO before headliner. Now I can see why these guys are booked almost every night through April and May. There was retro vibe from black and white wavy back drop and remake radio hits with fading beer in plastic. Crowd of misfits and wanna be trendoids. Hoodies, hat and glasses crowd. SMS and K2. Anyone with something to do was on the phone. “I’m a model until I start drinking”. On cue like a soundtrack ‘Just dropped in to see what condition my condition was in’ blared from the loud speakers.

The Suuns took the stage first. Their gear was pawn shop reject. Like kids in the basement switching instruments in search of success with their next attempt they made whale noises and scratchy analog feedback from crappy Kay guitar. I have made this kind of music. I was asked to stop. This was music for whiners, 90’s anti-pop wave. It was however sonically interesting with sincere vocals and tight offbeat percussion. Their set was impassioned and clueless. Channeling Bowie without the sense of style or economy. The crowd sort of enjoyed it, milling, and weaving uncomfortably more than dancing. Working a foot to foot shift in an attempt to anticipate the progression change that was not forthcoming.

The Black Angels are a Psychedelic band from Texas and that is that. As no-nonsense as Texas and as psychedelic as heyday Haight. Not much on style, except for the stage lined with PBRs, Boleyn’s Root, real vintage Fender Twins, Ampeg, Gretsch, Rickenbacker and Hofner. Just shut up and play. Drummer was the only member I could honestly say had showered that day but then she’s a girl. Damn could she lay down a beefy beatdown beat accompanied at times by bass player on his own floor tom. They opened with Bloodhounds and covered many songs including, Manipulation, River of Blood, Bad vibrations and The Haunting. Claps, hoots and cheers greet the opening strains of each song. Really they play as a band with o one stepping out front to take control. Even lead singer, Christian, seems hesitant in his frontman role.

Every song seems to take off and swirl above us with only bass and drums bouncing back to earth and touching only briefly like a yo-yo on a trampoline. The Turtles with testicles. Tribal and ignorant like a jungle bird exhibit or an amusement park African Queen ride. The constant pulse quickening strobe lights illuminated the tantric tighted skirted chicks dancing. Deafening and relentless. Cavernous reverb jangling hollow bodies reminiscent of ‘64 or 6 or 8. Airplane with Joe Cocker. Stoner Country Joe electric folk perfected. Spooky as the Doors and as powerfully tuneful as the Byrds, It swelled like Hot Tuna.

I had left this type of music behind and for good reason. It was tired. It had been one and only old people listened to it. Discarded like a calliope of steel drums falling off a truck. But this was calculated. It was percolating. The recipes smacked just short of sting. It wrapped me and lulled me with an awesome sense of fear and disproportion. A minor ebb began 25 minutes in as the hypnotic droning grew to a volume intolerable for some.

As many oldsters as kids in the crowd. I really wanted to jump on a board in front of a green screen and watusi like in the old movies. The smell of patchouli and colitis hung in the air. As the frenzy continued and the body heat rose, it kindled a smell that reminded me summer is on its way. It was hard not to dance in place everyone was getting their groove on in their own way.

Even the Yamaha bike parked outside were historici not for the full face helmets hanging carelessly by chin straps. Santa Claus is everywhere.

New Music - Friends

Formed on Sept. 12th 2010, Friends, played their first show for lead singer, Samantha Urbani’s birthday party in her backyard just 6 days later, before being subsequently thrust into a CMJ showcase. In the few months that have followed, Friends have played all the hotspots amongst NYC’s ever-expanding D.I.Y circuit, like Silent Barn, Shea Stadium and Death By Audio, and have just hit the road for a mammoth 29 date US tour with label-mate Darwin Deez.

Things have been moving this fast for Urbani since the spring of 2010 when, based in Brooklyn, Urbani recorded a batch of songs “bubbling out of her brain” onto ‘GarageBand.’ Summer saw Samantha temporarily relocate to Berlin to study, frequenting artist communes akin to the ‘Market Hotel’, where she currently resides, and further extending her unorthodox life approach, having been home schooled, by a free spirited, artistic small family unit in the suburbs of Connecticut. Upon returning to NYC, Urbani knew she needed a band to realize her ideas into something bigger.

Hence, Friends was formed naturally by the, well, friends surrounding her at the time. Self-taught, play anything musician Lesley Hann, 22, a striking performer of bass and keys in the band, whom Urbani had known from childhood, and stand-up drummer, Oliver Duncan, 23, were playing in a rock band together, and crashing on Urbani’s couch to avoid their bed bug problem. Close friends Matthew Molnar, 28, and Nikki Joe Shapiro, 33, worked, together with the singer, at the now locally-notorious vegan restaurant in the east village, Angelica Kitchen, where Darwin Deez had also previously eked out a living, and so, the quintet was complete.

Wildbirds & Peacedrums Spring Tour

Wildbirds & Peacedrums is set to tour North America this Spring. These dates are in support of their release Rivers (The Control Group) and their first N.A. dates since supporting Lykke Li and St. Vincent respectively in 2009 & 2010.

Rivers is a double release of two distinctly different, five-song EP’s: Retina and Iris and also features the 12-strong Schola Cantorum Reykjavík Chamber Choir (same choir used by Björk on Medulla). The twin EPs were carefully developed by both Mariam Wallentin and her husband, drummer Andreas Werliin.

Wildbirds & Peacedrums will also be part of the 20 person super-group coming together for the Congotronics Vs. Rockers European festival tour this summer. The super-band will feature 10 Congotronics musicians and 10 indie musicians including Juana Molina, Deerhoof and more.

Wildbirds & Peacedrums are amazing live. Hands down one of the best live shows I've ever seen. If you have not seen them live put them on the top of your list this spring.

Dirty Gold are Lincoln and John Ballif & Grant Nassif. Their music is inspired by the sounds of the 50's/60's, eclectic global finds, and drippy guitar lines. Lincoln handles the vocals and lead guitar, John is the keyboardist/rhythm guitarist, and Grant is the drummer. Dirty Gold signed to Autumn Tone Records in December, 2010, and has since been working on their upcoming EP, ROAR, to be released April 12th, 2011. A joint release by L.A.’s Hippos In Tanks and Montreal’s Arbutus Records, Dark Bloom is the title of a thrilling new split by d’Eon and Grimes. Both rising stars in Montreal's independent music scene, they produced their respective sides independently, though the project was conceptualized together.

Following the Middle-Eastern-tinged R&B of 2010’s Palinopsia, d’Eon’s continuous, circular suite addresses reliance on technology through lyrical content and sonic allusion (for example, “Telepathy” samples cell phone interference). d’Eon broadens his stylistic breadth through reference to a number of electronic genres. He simultaneously incorporates elements of (for example) Chicago footwork and new jack swing, but surprises the listener with strange forays into bygone genres such as UK drum and bass and trip hop.

On a March night just down the hill from the Hollywood sign, Morcheeba graced the stage of the MusicBox Theatre. Supporting their latest release "Blood Like Lemonade," the band brought an ample supply of their sultry trip-hop grooves and beats, from London with love.

Having morphed over the years through members, the original core line-up has reunited; bringing the brothers Paul Godfrey (beats & scratches), Ross Godfrey (guitar/keyboards), and Skye Edwards (vocals) - together the for first time since 2002's "Charango." With the stage lights coming up - Sky illuminated the MusicBox with her personality, presence and a dress made out of red feathers and hair in a stylish mohawk.

Opening the night was a near-whispered performance of "The Sea" from their Big Calm album. Floating from song to song and entrancing the audience along the way, Morcheeba covered their most memorable tunes from "Big Calm," "Who Can You Trust" and "Charango," as well as an ample selection from their new release "Blood Like Lemonade." In good form: the tunes had a very zen & sexy feel - never letting the audience down or missing a groove, while Skye's entrancing and sultry vocals further immersed the audience in their spell.

High points included "Otherwise," "Part of the Process," and by way of a special treat for the local audience: a rendition of Arlo Guthrie's "Coming into Los Angeles." This added a closeness akin to having friends play you a concert for your birthday. Skye and Ross were relaxed and lighthearted in their repartee with each other and the audience between lush and seductive songs.

With an upbeat topping on the desert of the evening, their encore closed with Fragments of Freedom's "Rome Wasn't Built In A Day." All in all, a really good show - better yet, an amazing show to bring a date to...

If By Yes live at Littlefiled 3/13/11 plus more show dates

If By Yes is a new collaboration project featuring Petra Haden & Yuka Honda of Cibo Matto. They are releasing their debut LP on Chimera label on March 22nd. Check out our review of the Salt on Sea Glass album here. The album features some amazing guests including David Byrne, Cornelius (Keigo Oyamada), Nels Cline and Sean Lennon. Last night's live band Petra and Yuka were joined by Wilco guitarist Nels Cline, guitarist Hirotaka "Shimmy" Shimizu and drummer Yuko Araki both of Cornelius.

The band sounded great live they opened with "You Feel Right" ended the show with a David Bryne-less version of "Eliza" then the band did a even more rocking rendition of "Adrift" Petra's vocals sounded spot on to the record with a little more flair live. She had a background singer Courtney Kaiser (from Kaiser Cartel) who was helping Petra create some beautiful vocal harmonies. It was pretty amazing what the two were pulling off live vocally. The band left the stage audience gave a very big encore request but sadly Yuka Honda came on stage and announced they had no more songs left to play.

The band had a donation area to help raise money for Japan which Yuka announced over the mic during there set. Every $10 donated you you would receive a handmade card plus be entered in a raffle to win some vinyl and music from the band. They raised $300 last night but they had five people matching the money so the band is donating $1800 to Japan. Tonight's If By Yes show at Le Poisson Rouge it is highly rumored David Byrne is to guest on his tune "Eliza," also if you at SXSW be sure to catch them at one of the shows below.

On 03.03.11, Crystal Castles played another long sold-out Southern California show, in an outpost just to the east of Los Angeles - this round, in support of their second eponymous release "Crystal Castles, II." Just underway on their latest North American tour, CC delivered a show that was equally as fierce as it was indelible, in low-fi synths & pulsing beats.

Composed of Ethan Kath (multi-instrumentalist) and Alice Glass (vocalist), as well as tour drummer, Crystal Castles have made their live minimalist audio/visual barrage something to be loved and feared. CC have harnessed an early DIY punk attitude and channeled it through the their own envisioning of chip-modified electronica, stepping into something new.

As the show began the tour manager came on stage making an introductory note that Alice had broken her ankle some weeks back in Tokyo. The question had come up if their tour should be postponed. True to form, Alice said: "...FUCK THAT, we're playing..." and the venue lights went down.

Starting the night's mayhem was "Fainting Spells," the noisy and unsettling opening track from their most recent album. This, preformed with a cast & crutch & bottle of Jack - none of which slowed the show down for a second. Following the opener, they launched into equally edgy songs, such as "Doe Deer" and "Alice Practice." This was interspersed with hits such as "Crimewave," "Courtship Dating," and "Celestica," mixing retro electronica soundscapes with effected vocals, to a danceable & chaotic end. Succinctly said: Crystal Castles played with an intense passion and sense-of-urgency that's rare to find.

As the band was untethered by any continuous lighting, the beats and strobes propelled the audience all-but in-the-dark, providing a time-laps experience with waves of chaotic noise and electro-pop hooks. In the evolution of electro-based bands, Crystal Castles show their live musical progression to combine electronica with an edge as sharp as a surgical blade.

Unlike some live shows, the Crystal Castles 75 minute set flew by leaving the audience (as well as myself) craving more, even as the encore finished... //ie: see them this summer on tour//

Dirty Beaches, YellowFever, Widowspeak Glasslands 3/3/11

I was pretty excited to check out Dirty Beaches live, his new record Badlands is on obsessive rotation. I had expectations of how the show would go and was pleased with those ideas but when Alex Zhang Hungtai set quickly became a very high energy theatrical performance my expectations were blown away. He talked about how he was mugged in Flushing Queens when he was in his early teens for only a dollar and some change and apologized to the audience and and to the bands for missing their sets. He a little late to the show because he was recording some new material in a New York studio and said he would make it up to us . . . and that he did. He ripped though his set dedicated his Johnny Cash/Nick Cave cover of "The Singer" to the late Trish Keenan of Broadcast. Just as his set got the crowd fired up, he screamed and howled into his tiny microphone, repeating "Let's see what you got New York" his power to his gear blew out leaving him unamplified for a few minutes. He finally got up and running and played a few more high powered tunes then entered into his final song and invited the gals from Dum Dum GIrls to jam with him as he crawled all over the Glasslands stage like a rockabilly Spiderman (watch the video below). Austin, Texas's Yellow Fever delivered quite a sound for a two piece. They are pretty hard to describe but in the best of ways. Very pleasing off-kilter grooves almost reminiscent of Gang of Four but more melodic like Stereolab but smoother and much dryer in sound. I am at a loss of words but definitely have a listen for yourself.

Widowspeak are a three piece from Brooklyn. There lead singer Molly Hamilton has a dreamy, woozy drugged-out Hope Sandoval circa a la Mazzy Star sound to it but her band consisting of drums and an another guitarist backed her with some very graceful and retro Patsy Cline, Nancy Sinatra grooves, making the whole experience pretty wonderful. Looking forward to hear much more from this trio. Towards the end of their they performed a tasty Chris Issak cover of "Wicked Game." Widowspeak’s are signed to Captured Tracks. They just released a 7″ single of "Harsh Realm/Burnout" The first 400 on white vinyl.

Toronto Canada's Austra played Saturday night at Glasslands. Austra is the brainchild of Katie Stelmanis. Their music is filled with electro grooves a bit more upbeat than The Knife maybe more Ficher Spooner. They just released a single called "The Beat and the Pulse." Their full length debut album titled Feel it Break, comes out May 17 on Domino Records. Their sounds reminds me of being at an angelic rave. It's etherhral with a heavy beat. They sound like a disco Miranda Sex Garden. At times the lead singer Katie sounds like Kate bush backed with angelic Cocteau Twins-esque backing vocals. Brooklyn's Living Days are one of the most amazing new bands on the scene. The very tight band make some refreshingly great 80s pop music. Lead singer Stephonik Youth is an amazing front woman who puts 200% into every performance. The band won over the crowd at Glasslands. You can pick up their debut EP Make Out Room, Vol. 1 but I highly recommend seeing them live.

It was my first time visiting the amazing art/music space Glasslands which I mistakenly keep calling Grasslands. I am looking forward to seeing many more shows there in the near future.

The Church are midway thru their US tour called Future, Past Present where the band plays three albums in their entirety at each show. They perform their recent album untitled #23, their nineties album Priest=Aura and then the class late eighties album Starfish. Radiohead announce new album entitled The King Of Limbs and it will be available on Saturday 19th February 2011.
