Lower Dens Dark Dark Dark Matteah Baim Frankie Rose and the Outs! An amazing Northside Festival showcase by Impose at Death By Audio! All the bands I saw above were great and there were tons of great band members in attendance for Jana Hunter's Lower Dens new band set including Sharon Van Etten, Kyp Malone of (TV On The Radio) and Anand Wilder of Yeasayer.
This was my first time seeing the dynamic duo She Keeps Bees. The two-piece band She Keeps Bees is comprised of lead singer/guitarist Jessica Larrabee and her partner Andy LaPlant on drums headlined a benefit at Littlefield in Brooklyn to raise money for a documentary film project ‘Imaginary Mothers.’ We saw a preview of the documentary which was filmed in Costa Rica which reunites birth mothers with adopted kids. Front woman Jessica Larrabee had me blown away with her dirty guitar grooves and her strong and beautiful voice but even more that between songs she had the audience busting a gut with her funny stories about cheese burgers, cockroaches, her sweating arm pits and smelling oils. Watch the video clip below of the best of both worlds. During her set both of her bra straps fell off underneath her shirt. We caught a few tunes from openers This Frontier Needs Heroes but sadly we missed Natureboy's acoustic set.

If you haven't heard of Villagers then do yourself a favor and check him out. On these US dates below Villagers is just frontman Conor J. O'Brien. He and his band will be back in the states later this year. His debut album Becoming A Jackal was released on Domino Records on June 8th in the US. I've seen him three times and his live shows are not to be missed. He played our SXSW showcase and our Kevchino presents showcase the night before but I still found the time to see his next show at Union Hall and I recommend you find the time to make it out to one of the dates below. He did an unplugged version of "Home," and amazing performance of his tune "Becoming A Jackal" and one of my favorite tunes not on the US LP but released prior as a single "On A Sunlit Stage (see live video below)."

Jenny Emily Theresa Stella Warpaint put on an amazing live set at their sold out Knitting Factory show! The girls played a ton of new material off their forthcoming full length album. Let me tell you the new songs sound amazing. One song sounded kind of poppy, one was amazing tune called "Majestic" and a lot them are mind blowing dynamic jams. They did and acapella of version of "Billy Holiday," and a fifteen minute epic version of "Stars!" The girls chops were tight. They're on there game big time and they're playing a ton of big festivals this year and if they play there cards right will a pretty huge band by the time there new album drops. Check out our interview we did with Theresa of Warpaint here.

Kings of Convenience more than made up for their inconvenience during this summers Valentine's Day make-up show at Brooklyn's Warsaw. The Nordic duo's set started out pretty slow then headed in to high gear as Erlend seem to push Eirik to louder peaks. In "Boat Behind" they got the whole crowd to sing along to their campy tune. Towards the end of their set they were joined on stage by tour openers Franklin For Short for three rocked out versions of their tunes. During one of the final tunes, towards the end of the song, the band wound down and each band member sat down on the floor. The boys returned on stage as a two piece and played one more tune then ended the show with Lesley Gore's "It's my party, and I'll cry if I want to.."
