Villagers & Erland and the Carnival at Knitting Factory 11/2/10
The British folk rock band Erland And The Carnival opened the show with a pretty strong set. The band is led by multi-instrumentalist Simon Tong (formerly of The Verve, Blur and The Good, the Bad & the Queen), Orcadian folk guitarist and singer Gawain Erland Cooper and Drummer/Engineer David Nock (The Orb, The Cult, The Fireman).
Next up was frontman Conor J. O’Brien who was backed by his full band Villagers. I have seen many shows with Conor performing solo and he really knows how to put on a great live show but with his full band it was a much more dynamic set. The full band added great textures and backing vocals to the bands tunes.
