Y La Bamba will kick off their west coast tour with Horse Feathers (Kill Rock Stars) tomorrow starting with stops in Vancouver BC, Seattle WA, and Portland OR. On their new LP, Lupon (produced by the Decemberist's Chris Funk and out now on Tender Loving Empire), front-woman Luzelena Mendozarom draws from her strict Catholic upbringing as an only daughter of Mexican immigrants, a debilitating illness that lead her to fall away from her faith, and the vocal harmonies of the Mexican music she grew up around.
